KY FINED FOR STORM WATER VIOLATIONS
The feds came down on the Commonwealth for violations during the widening of US-421 in Frankfort.

Transportation spokesman Chuck Wolfe says roadway construction can have an adverse impact on the environment if steps aren’t taken to control runoff. He says the cabinet agreed to the settlement.“I think overall we did a very good job on erosion control but there was this one instance where sediment got into a couple of streams and that was documented and that was a violation of the storm water permit,” he said.

AMAZON WORKS TO UNDERMINE LOCAL SHOPPING EFFORT
The big bad boys of the Internet want you to stop shopping local. Check out this dick move:
Apparently concerned that it's not already doing enough to undermine local physical retailers across the country, Amazon.com announced it will pay customers $5 to go into a local store, scan an item, walk out, and buy the same item on Amazon. Please don't do this cheap, sad thing.
Wow.

PRESIDENT STRIKES POPULIST CHORD
President Obama tapped into his inner Teddy Roosevelt during a speech in Kansas.

“This country succeeds when everyone gets a fair shot, when everyone does their fair share and when everyone plays by the same rules,” Mr. Obama said in an address that sought to tie his economic differences with Republicans into an overarching message.Infusing his speech with the moralistic language that has emerged in the Occupy protests around the nation, Mr. Obama warned that growing income inequality meant that the United States was undermining its middle class and, “gives lie to the promise that’s at the very heart of America:  that this is the place where you can make it if you try.”“This is a make-or-break moment for the middle class, and all those who are fighting to get into the middle class,” Mr. Obama told the crowd packed into the gym at Osawatomie High School.

HAS IT GOTTEN THIS BAD OUT THERE?
A mother is denied welfare so she shoots her kids.

Goodman said Grimmer's last contact with the agency appeared to be a phone call in mid-November. When the family entered the Laredo office on Monday shortly before 5 p.m., Goodman said Grimmer asked to speak to a new caseworker, and not the one whom she worked with previously.Shortly thereafter, Goodman said, Grimmer was taken to a private room to discuss her case. She said it was there the mother revealed a gun and the standoff began.

WHAT DID NEWCATH SEND HOLY CROSS BEFORE TITLE GAME?
Why, an edible arrangement of course!

Holy Cross principal Clay Eifert admitted he was surprised at the gesture, but that it says a lot about how rivals don't have to be adversaries.
"I was pleasantly shocked, but it reaffirms a strong relationship we have with NCC," said Eifert. "Despite being competitors it does show that the coaches and these schools are able to keep the rivalry in perspective. They're good as long as they don't get out of control. It was a really, really classy gesture on their part."
That is sweet, delicious sportsmanship.
