TENSE MEETING BETWEEN CITY COMMISSION AND HOUSING AUTHORITY
The Housing Authority of Covington held a joint caucus meeting with the Covington City Commission last Tuesday and included multiple heated exchanges. MULTIPLE COVINGTON PROJECTS PART OF KENTUCKY ROADS BILL
The Kentucky House of Representatives passed a $3.5 billion roads bill that includes funding for several Covington projects. In addition to Brent Spence replacement funding, new bridges over 11th & 15th, eliminating a traffic signal at a busy intersection, putting a new lane on 4th street, and redoing Hands Pike. Click the link for the full story.
The RC News: Multiple Covington Projects Part of Roads Bill
|
SEE ALSO: City Commissioner Sherry Carran issued this statement via Facebook Saturday:

The transportation bill passed the House this week and will now be going to the Senate. Hands Pike and Taylor Mill Rd/KY 16 are important projects for South Covington. It would be good if residents of South Covington contacted Sen Westwood and Sen. Schickel to let them know how important and ask for their support. Jack.Westwood@lrc.ky.gov and John.Schickel@lrc.ky.gov
And:
The Botany Hills Project for improving safety along Highway Ave., adding/improving sidewalk on north side and improving the fence, is in the transportation bill that passed the House this past week, thanks to Rep Arnold Simpson. Sen. Jack Westwood introduced the project several years ago and now it has moved up for funding in 2012. It is going to be heard in the Senate this week so it would help if Senator Westwood had some emails from Botany Hills residents thanking him for his efforts and letting him know this project is still important for our neighborhood. Jack.Westwood@lrc.ky.gov

Covington's road priorities will be part of Tuesday's city commission meeting agenda.
