ANOTHER MARDI GRAS CELEBRATION BENEFITS HOMELESS CHILDREN
The Northern Kentucky Restaurant Association produces the 21st annual Mardi Gras for Homeless Children, benefiting The Welcome House and other local shelters. It is set for Tuesday night at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center. Tickets are $55.
That poster still lists Doc Thompson as the celebrity "King" but he was fired a couple weeks ago from 700 WLW and was replaced as King by Eddie Fingers who was rehired at 700 after also being fired from there previously. #Awkward

ANOTHER WAY TO HELP THE WELCOME HOUSE:
Change a client's life by helping them obtain a job! Looking for volunteers to drive clients in our Welcome House Van to job interviews. Contact Donna at 859-431-8717 for more info.
MORE FROM THE WELCOME HOUSE:
Charla first came to Welcome House three years ago this month. She was pregnant and homeless. She was running out of options until a friend told her about the Gardens at Greenup. The program allows Charla to live in an affordable apartment while she goes back to school. Charla had always hated school, but was willing to do anything to provide a good home for her child. In 2009, Charla didn't know how to type or use a computer. She enrolled at Cincinnati State and obtained an Associates Degree of Arts and earned a Deaf Study Certificate. She didn't stop there. Charla is now enrolled in a program through Ashford University and is on track to graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Behavioral Sciences in November. She has loved the online courses because they allow her to spend more time with her young daughter.

LIBRARIES IN POLITICAL CROSSHAIRS
Federal lawsuits in Covington and a bill in Frankfort:
A bill filed by state Sen. John Schickel, R-Union, and passed by the Kentucky Senate would give county judge-executives and fiscal courts more control over who staffs library boards. Two lawsuits pending in federal court in Covington contend the Campbell County and Kenton County libraries have improperly raised taxes for decades and seek reimbursement for the taxpayers.

BRENT SPENCE, SIMPSON'S ANGEL BILL ON DECK IN FRANKFORT
Covington State Representative Arnold Simpson's angel investor tax credit bill is coming up in Frankfort, but so is the possibility of tolls on the Brent Spence Bridge:
“Republicans hate that; Democrats hate that,” Williams said. “I don’t have to run in Northern Kentucky, but I’m telling you we can sit here and talk about it as long as we want to. Unless there’s an upsurge in funds from the federal government, it’s not going to be built. It would consume the entirety of all the federal funds we get from Washington D.C. every year to build that bridge. It’s not going to happen.”
But of course David Williams did have to run in NKY last November and even lost in Boone County which must be some sort of recent record for a Republican. But that's neither here nor there... just pointing out again what a miserable jerk David Williams is.

RICHIE FARMER WITHDRAWS APPEAL FOR UNEMPLOYMENT
What a disgrace this UK legend turned out to be (and what a natural fit he was to run with that miserable jerk David Williams last fall):
Guthrie True, an attorney who advised Farmer, said the appeal to the state Department of Agriculture was withdrawn on Monday, ahead of a scheduled hearing on the matter. “I felt it was a good idea for him to withdraw it,” he said. “I think the law precludes him from getting it. I just don’t think he realized that at the time he filed it.”

COMAIR WORKERS ORDERED TO PAY BACK UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS
From Troubleshooter Howard Ain:
Workers took the buyouts and collected unemployment from the state of Kentucky until just this week when they got this letter saying they voluntarily quit their jobs and so are not entitled to unemployment benefits. And according to the letter. Spivey collected unemployment checks for 21 weeks but now Kentucky wants that money back. Spivey would have to repay $4700.
