A report this month from the Urban Partnership (operated by the Covington Business Council) indicates that cleaning up Covington's litter and graffiti problem is leveling off. The organization released its monthly report today. "These figures demonstrate that we are getting a firmer hold on litter, weed and graffiti problems allowing our fifteen paid and volunteer workers to focus on areas we haven't had time to address in the past," said CBC Executive Director Pat Frew in a release. After peaking in August with 10,000 pounds of litter picked up, 235 instances of graffiti removed, and 202 city blocks treated for weeds, today's numbers are smaller. The effort will not move more pointedly toward removing instances of gum stains on sidewalks which tripled to 150 in October from 50 in September. A hotline is available for members of the community to request special cleanup projects: 859.291.4333. Follow the Urban Partnership on Facebook.
