REACTIONS TO THE DEATH OF MARY MIDDLETON
The Kenton County community mourned the loss of Mary Middleton, 83, who was killed after being struck by a garbage truck near her yard. She was the wife of former Kenton County Judge-Executive Clyde Middleton and mother to Kenton Circuit Clerk John Middleton. Here are some reactions from Kenton County individuals and groups from their social networking sites:

John Middleton:
My mother was killed in a tragic accident this morning. She was the best mother one could ever ask for. I will not have time to respond to all of the condolences, but know they are appreciated. "Mother Mary" made everyone feel special, so in her honor make someone feel special today.

Kenton County Republican Women's Club:
Today we are saddened by the death of Mary Middleton. Mary was the first president of our club 51 years ago and has been an inspiration to us all. Please keep the family in prayer as they go through this holiday season without her. Hers was a life well lived.
 Kenton County Library:
We are very sad to hear about Mrs. Middleton. She was a great friend to the Library.
The library added that you can view photos of Mrs. Middleton here: Kenton Co. Library

Kenton County Democrats:
Mary Middleton was a wonderful woman, and a true friend to all citizens of Kenton County. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Clyde, John, and the rest of the Middleton family in this time of tragedy.
Kenton County Democrats Chairman Col Owens (in a release):
We live in a time when political differences tend to strain relationships, to make friendship difficult. Mary's grace should serve as an example for us all, that the human ties that unite us are stronger than the differences of conviction that divide us. Our community is much better for her having been among us.
Kenton County Commonwealth Attorney Rob Sanders (via Twitter):
Rough day at work. Saddened by the tragic death of Mary Middleton. Thoughts & prayers for her family. Sad day for NKY.
Kentucky Symphony Orchestra:
Mary Middleton passed away today in a tragic accident. She was a retired teacher,a longtime volunteer for the Salvation Army and The KSO. A family friend called her "the conscience of the community."
The Symphony has also shared photos here: KSO @ Facebook

Behringer-Crawford Museum:
BCM wants to share its sympathy with the Middleton family, Mary we love you and thank you for all your support. You will always be with us.
 Marcus Carey, The Bluegrass Bulletin:

Mary was in every way the consummate republican woman.  Her tireless smile, gentle touch and genuine happiness to see you was both the most uplifting and comforting greeting anyone who met her ever experienced.Mary was one of the original founders of the incredibly influential and effective Kenton County Republican Women's Club.  Her years of service to her community were sprinkled with the fun and good natured patriotism she exuded whenever she appeared at public events in her signature patriotic red white and blue scarves, hats or broaches.

MEANWHILE, THE POOR ARE ABOUT TO GET POORER
Because of the "Super Committee" #FAIL:
The reduction in TANF benefits is now going beyond just the erosion from inflation: In many cash-strapped states, legislators have diverted money from the block grant to pay for other things, while slashing benefits to poor families at a time when unemployment has been consistently high. Six states have cut benefits just in the past year.
