ANOTHER OLD FASHIONED HOLIDAY WINDOW DISPLAY
Many who have seen Sims Furniture's window display on Madison Avenue have compared it to the old tradition at the former Shillito's in Downtown Cincinnati. Well, those old windows now have a display of their own, though on a smaller scale.

CONNECTING GOV. BESHEAR'S POLITICAL DOTS WITH COAL
If you were hoping that in his second term that Governor Steve Beshear would be less hospitable to the coal industry, you are headed for a heartache:
Readers might recall that about a year ago, we editorialized about a strip-mining operation near Elkhorn City that the Beshear administration allowed, despite evidence that it would degrade already polluted tributaries of the Russell Fork and that its water-pollution permit was invalid.
An administrative law judge ordered a temporary halt to the mining while the legal questions were sorted out, but Energy and Environment Secretary Len Peters quickly overturned the judge's ruling and allowed the contested mining to resume.
And now some winners in that issue are co-chairing Beshear's second inauguration.

OCCUPY... BEST BUY?
Big box retailers never miss a beat and this time they capitalize on a political movement by... promoting a movement of their own: #OccupyBestBuy. And unfortunately, it seems to be working:
Remember, avoid these large scale promotions and keep your dollars local. #ShopLocal #ShopCovington
