BULLYING ADDRESSED AT SUICIDE VICTIM'S SCHOOL
Parents and staff (and a couple City Commissioners and the Executive Director of the Louisville-based KY Fairness Alliance) listened at Woodland Middle School to a presentation on bullying. However, after the presentation the sentiment was that the audience was lacking important participants: students.

GOOD RIDDANCE, OMNICARE!
Even the $6 billion in annual profits could not buy these corporate criminals a good headline last week. Omnicare, which is bailing on Covington and costing the city up to a million bucks in payroll tax revenue all after years of receiving taxpayer money here, learned that its bid to takeover its nearest rival would be blocked and then watched as its stock price plummeted. Today, the Cincinnati Enquirer has this:
One afternoon last July, Ohio Gov. John Kasich’s economic development point man, Mark Kvamme, sat on the 19th floor of the Enquirer building during an interview with reporters. Kvamme looked out the window, across the Ohio to Omnicare’s headquarters on the Covington riverfront.
“So that’s where Omnicare’s headquarters is?” he asked.
Two months later, Kvamme joined Kasich, Mallory and Omnicare executives in announcing that the company would move its headquarters – and 480 good-paying jobs – back across the river into downtown Cincinnati. In exchange, Omnicare, a Fortune 500 company with more than $6 billion in annual sales, is eligible for more than $8 million in tax breaks. Such state-jumping doesn’t really benefit the overall regional economy, says Jason Bailey, director of the Kentucky Center for Economic Policy.
Glad to see these corporate welfare raiders get their due in larger media. Karma really is what everyone says she is.

ANTI-STIMULUS TEA PARTY LEADER SEEKS GOVT MONEY FOR A LIVING
If only this were surprising:
In her role as one of the leaders of the Grass Roots Tea Party of Boone County, Emily Shelton has criticized local, state and federal government officials for excessive spending and tax increases. Many in the tea party movement see government grants as a root cause of these problems. So it may surprise some that Shelton is a grant writer and grant consultant by profession. Since 2002, Shelton’s clients have been awarded more than $11.5 million in federal grant funds and she has written grant requests for another $3.7 million in funds that were rejected.

        UNBELIEVABLE!
The River City News hopes that your Sunday is as good as the end of this basketball game! Georgetown College led Lindsey Wilson Saturday by two points with less than a second left. When Georgetown missed a free throw, Lindsey Wilson's Chase Spreen got the rebound and heaved the ball three-quarters of the length away from the basket. In other words, he shot it from the free-throw stripe at the opposite end. And won the game! Watch:
