  COVINGTON'S IMPORTANT WEEK
How will the City balance its budget? Who will be out of a job? What does the future look like for our city? Those answers will be revealed in the coming days.

Covington Mayor Chuck Scheper on Tuesday night will return to the spot where he launched his 10-point plan and message that C+V=G in January, the Madison Event Center. Instead of its usual Tuesday night meeting at City Hall, the Covington City Commission will welcome the community the reception center across the street for a presentation by the mayor on the budget and one by Management Partners, the Cincinnati-based firm brought in to review internally all the departments within City Hall. Then on Thursday night the City Commission will return to City Hall for a special meeting to approve the budget for the next fiscal year. This could very well be one of the most important weeks in Covington's history.

SATURDAY
City of Covington and Northern Kentucky University will host a guided tour of the Licking River. From a release: 
The tour, called "Rediscovering the Licking River," is a tour to help educate the public on the importance of two local initiatives. The Licking River Watershed is an organization that works to protect, improve and restore the waters for the Licking River basin by promoting water quality monitoring, public education and citizen action. The Licking River Greenway is an effort to create an urban greenway from the mouth of the Licking River to the I-275 loop.
The seven-mile tour will begin at Knotty Pine of the Bayou (6302 Licking Pike in Cold Spring) and conclude with a celebration at the Covington Landing.
The cost per participant is $20 and proceeds will benefit the NKU Center for Environmental Education's K-12 and community programs. Awards and prizes will be announced at the celebration ceremony along with raffles and educational booths, which are available for sponsorships.
