It's not a tree-lighting ceremony without lights, but Latonia's official Christmas tree will have to do without for now. The Covington Recreation Department greeted attendees of tonight's lighting ceremony with news that the lights broke after being placed on the tree. It is possible that they were damaged by water and may be replaced later this week. In spite of the lack of lights and the cold rain, a celebration did ensue with cookies, hot chocolate, caroling by students from Holmes High School and an appearance by Santa Claus. The City gets another shot at a tree lighting when the official Christmas tree is lit up Tuesday night at 6th & Main Streets in Mainstrasse.
