Lots of positive activity on the first block on Mainstrasse
Two of the Mainstrasse Village's newer and most popular restaurants are growing, a promising sign for the neighborhood's 500 block, the gateway into the village. Bouquet Restaurant & Wine Bar is expanding its kitchen out to where the back patio once was. That outdoor seating will be replaced by new arrangements on top of the expanded kitchen. Another seventy new seats will be added upstairs into a former apartment where owner Steven Williams had lived. "It's somewhat surreal," Williams told The River City News. "I lived up there for eight years and once we start tearing down the walls it will really be a difference."

Future site of Bouquet's new kitchen and outdoor dining
Next door to Bouquet, Otto's is also growing. The building that until Christmas housed the Enchanted Florist will now be incorporated into Otto's. Long-range hopes include uniting the two buildings. "The Mainstrasse community is awesome," Williams said. "Everybody here works well together. Otto's and (Bouquet) have a symbiotic relationship sending guests back and forth. We're all in it together."

Bouquet's new kitchen should be completed by mid-May and after that the restaurant's team will get to work on the new dining room upstairs. Otto's also expects to complete part of its project by the spring. "A lot of the empty buildings down here, empty for years, are starting to fill up with different things," Williams said. "It just seems like everything is getting going down here."
