ENDING COVINGTON DISPATCH ADDED TO COMMISSION AGENDA
The plans to end Covington's dispatch center was added to the City Commission's Tuesday night agenda late Monday afternoon. It was late Friday night when news broke that Covington's dispatchers received letters from the City indicating that their jobs would be eliminated as services would begin to be handled by Kenton County on or around September 1. The River City News will be at City Hall for tonight's meeting and will have full coverage afterwards.

NKU NURSING STUDENTS TO WORK AT MADISON AVE CHRISTIAN CHURCH
PRESS RELEASE:
The baccalaureate nursing program at Northern Kentucky University includes community health as part of the curriculum and allows nursing students to select from a variety of experiences. “Nine students have chosen the experience of working with community residents while serving at Madison Avenue Christian Church,” says NKU Associate Professor of Nursing Kristine Pfendt.
Every Monday, the nursing students attend community health class at Madison Avenue, and at the end of the day, they take part in cooking and serving the community meal and during the evenings, they offer health screenings for the homeless and poor population attending the dinner. “The nursing students are able to work closely with those in need in our community and help them by providing health from the heart,” says Professor Pfendt.
The Madison Avenue Christian Church community meal program servesapproximately 120 individuals every Monday and Wednesday evenings. Now in its sixth year, the homeless meal program at Madison Avenue Christian Church has served over 40,000 hot meals with the help of church members and community volunteers.
“The nursing students provide basic health screenings and referral services for the guests at our community meals and provide another resource for people needing health care,” says Madison Avenue Christian Church Pastor Simon. “We are so thankful that these student nurses are offering their time and experiencing the satisfaction of helping those who need it most.”
The church also provides Samaritan car care services, nursing care, flu shots, clothing items, coats and blankets and personal care items. Church members are responsible for stocking the supplies.
To volunteer or donate food for the community meal program, contact 859-261-0226. The Church is located at 1530 Madison Avenue. To learn more, visit: http://www.Mchurch.com.
