Since then, conflicting information has emerged about whether Covington dispatchers would be offered employment at the county. The River City News broke this story Friday evening. SUNDAY HEADLINES
|
NKY Congressional candidate Thomas Massie runs ad during UK/UofL game:
The spot for Massie, who is in his second year as Lewis County judge-executive, aired during the first half of the UK-UofL game on CBS in the Cincinnati-television market only. It cost $7,000 for the 30-second spot, Massie said.
“We thought that was a bargain,” Massie said in a telephone interview. “This is bigger than the Super Bowl in Kentucky.”
Perhaps even more notable is that the spot uses the words of U.S. Rep. Geoff Davis, R-Hebron, to narrate. Davis is retiring at the end of the year prompting a rush for the 4th District seat for which Massie and six other Republicans, plus two Democrats, are running.
Check out the video and remarks from Massie explaining why Davis (who has not endorsed a candidate) is used in the ad at the link.

A Democrat running for NKY's Congressional seat blasts the "Paul Ryan Budget" in DC:
“I am proud to announce not one Democrat voted in favor of this budget that will end
Medicare as we know it. The Paul Ryan budget is unsound fiscal policy that provides more tax breaks for millionaires. It is a continuation of failed Republican fiscal policy that brought about record deficits and more than doubled our national debt 2001 through fiscal year 2009.
We as a nation have made a sacred promise to our senior citizens and when elected I will fight to protect Medicare. We owe it to our children to provide opportunity for their future. It is morally wrong to attempt to balance our budget at their expense while not asking everyone to pay their fair share.
The only way to seriously cut the debt is by supporting common-sense solutions to balance our budget, like last year’s compromise to cut the debt by more than $2 trillion, and to reform our tax policy.”
